With so little as 275 830 Km2 Ecuador becomes one of the 17 countries in the world with more biodiversity. Only the Archipelago of Galapagos contributes with 1900 species to the rest of the world, of those 74 are regrettably in danger of extinction.

Ecuador with 397 species is located in the seventh place of the world with more biodiversity of reptiles in the world.
In the Ecuador fishes are the most diverse group of vertebrates after the birds, because they have registered near 1.340 species.
